Why experts reject new nominees for the National Land Commission
If successful, the seven will join two others whose tenure expires in December to form the nine-member team of chairperson and eight commissioners. The full team would consist of four seasoned former MPs.
In a contribution I made for this column last September, I observed that the land commission selection panel’s task faced the threat of political interests and the consequential pressure.
I urged the panel to “navigate the pressure and give the country a good team, with the desirable professional competencies”.
